Name: Timothy Bernstein.
Occupation: Writer, Teacher.
Age: 43.
Allies/Axis/Neutral: Allies.
Physical Description: Tim is a short, rather plump man. He wasn't always plump, but the years have passed and he's had other worries on his mind apart from his looks. These worries have made his forehead a bit larger as well. For a man who always had plenty of hair, going bald is no joke. But there's nothing more than to accept it. Tim's taste for alcohol might have contributed greatly to his weight and wrinkles and number of white hairs, but he's not about to quit it anytime soon. A really amiable man, you can tell by his eyes, which twinkle with laughter and mischief and that wide smile of his.
Personality: Tim has a comment, a snort or a scoff for almost anything you might say. It is hard for him to contain his remarks and you'd really have to find him deeply worried or depressed to find him quiet. A very smart man, very cultured and very observant, Tim will mostly always have an answer for your doubts although he might not give it in the most clear way. He tends to drift off into his own head and allow his mind to run. Very kind and well-intentioned, Tim knows what's right and will always go that way, willing to make sacrifices. He loves laughing out loud, no holding back and patting everyone's back rather strongly.
History: Although Jewish, Tim was never really that interested in business like his two older brothers and his father. He was more into other things, like humanism, literature. Like his mother. Born in and raised in Vienna, Austria with his family, until he was eighteen and his mother died, sick in her bed. He then moved to London, despite his father's wishes and studied literature, soon becoming a writer and then a college professor. Tim built a reputation for himself for his humour, his ideas on politics and society and his sometimes polemic columns in various magazines and news papers.
He married young to an English nurse and had a child, Robert, with whom he was always close. Although his marriage began to fail after a few years, the separation was never made official, until she died when their son was fifteen. Tim traveled a lot and often took his son with him. He never returned to see his family, though and never attempted to contact them.
When limitations for Jews began spreading through Europe, Tim heard about his father's business being in trouble and wrote to him. He never heard back. Hurt and angry, Tim promised himself he would never attempt to help them again until several months later, when the Gestapo got his father and one of his brothers along with his wife and children and took them to a concentration camp.
He is now torn between going to find his other brother, who is in hiding with his family, knowing that by leaving Britain he risks facing the same fate as his father, or staying with his son at home praying for them, like a coward.
