Name: Beverly Coburn
Occupation: Journalist
Age: 23
Allies/Axis/Neutral: Allies
Physical Description:
Bev has dark blonde hair that can often have a reddish tint to it. She often wears it up and curls it according to the style that was so abundant. Her clothing varies but, again, she is quite stylish and has always had more than enough money to get what she wants so her closet is full of various dresses, hats, and shoes and she has a nice collection of jewelry as well. She has fair skin that can have a tan glow to it from time spent in the sun and warm, green eyes. She almost always has makeup coating her soft features (often a bright lipstick and pinkish blush).
Personality:
Beverly is a very fun person. She’s not really used to seeing much pain in life so she has a very positive outlook. Some of her favorite things to do are dance and sing with friends or even just to read a book while listening to the rain. She’s rarely seen without a smile and can be a very comforting person.
Bev has always loved helping people. She didn’t go to school for nursing like she wanted but she volunteered to take care of the sick at hospitals and often ran errands for the elderly people in her neighborhood. She may not be the most scientific of people but she has this way about her that is just warm and inviting.
Although times of war have dampened her happy spirits a bit, it still comes out quite often. She's learned to be more professional than personable when the time calls but it's still not her forte. Try as she might, she just can't shake that friendly attitude.
History:
Beverly was raised a southern girl, born to a very rich family that gave her everything she could need. Having such a sheltered background, Bev was a very happy child. She spent most of her time with her father, who loved music and reading. He passed these loves off to his daughter. She is very well read and has a nice singing voice. Beverly never really saw the true terror caused by the depression.
She fell in love for the first time in high school when she met David Coburn. At first, her family didn’t approve. He wasn’t nearly as wealthy as they were (although he wasn’t exactly poor to the standards the depression had set) but he was a sweet, helpful boy and they warmed up to him after they realized they couldn’t get rid of him. Even when she went away to the University for three years to study languages, their love never faltered and he asked her to marry him soon after she returned.
Their married bliss didn’t last to long, however. After only a year, David was sent off to fight in this new world war and Beverly was left at home, waiting eagerly for the letters he wrote so frequently.
Only a month (and 17 letters) after his departure found Beverly in an accidental interview to be a wartime journalist. Her sociable personality and excellent writing skills made her the perfect candidate. Also, she could be rather persuasive when she wanted to and apparently that was just what the New York Times was looking for.
She started off small, having to move to New York and interview women taking up jobs or men before they went away... small, sentimental articles that often went unnoticed. Soon she gained more attention and was on her way up... which also meant out. She began to travel from one ally base to the next in hopes of a good story... and perhaps a glimpse of David. She missed him so.
Other:
Beverly can speak three languages fluently and has a general understanding of at least four more (in which she recognizes meanings of stems but can not conjugate). At the University, she studied languages (including English, of course) and several forms of writing. She never really did learn much about science or mathematics beyond the basic level.
((I'm sure there will be more added on later...))
