Name: Kriemhild Stahl (known mostly by her last name)
Occupation: Ghetto dweller, forced into the Judenrat (Jewish Council), her sole job is to execute the will of the council (which is more or less controlled by the Nazis).
Age: 18
Allies/Axis/Neutral: She’s a German Jew, forced to carry out the Nazis’ will. In action, she’s with the Axis Powers. In reality, plotting an escape is much easier in the position she’s in—so, neutral, I guess.
Physical description: Stahl is of a rather average height, standing at a steady 5 ft 6 inches. Her stance is straight and imposing, granting her the respect she requires. Her frame is lithe, almost unhealthily so, due to malnourishment, though that hardly detracts from her stolid, hostile posture.
Raven-black hair cascades down the length of her back, clashing completely with severe blue eyes. As part of the oppression, she was forced to wear some of the Nazi uniform: dark olive double-breasted trench coat, black fitted trousers, topped by knee-length combat boots, and the red band with the insignia on her left arm. Technically she’s supposed to wear the hat, though she only puts it on when meeting with the Ghetto Officer.
Personality: Asocial, emotionally cold and aggravatingly indifferent. She’s mostly found alone, and if not, she’s with Baen, a German Shepherd whom she has complete control over… despite the fact that he belongs to one of the Nazi officers. Having her around is not exactly comforting for the victims, since she seems to care very little for other’s lives, so long as she eventually escapes. She is hence labelled as a selfish traitor. Behind the scenes, however, this kind of attitude gains at least a bit of trust/respect from the Nazi’s, thus giving the Judenrat some wiggle room. Besides, with a reputation like hers, smuggling goods becomes a relatively easy task.
Be very wary with what you say around her, she’s got a poisonous, sledge-hammer wit along with a critical ear. Anything that comes out of your mouth can –and will—be used against you. Her corrosive mouth could have gotten her in a lot of trouble, though, despite the fact that she is but a tool for the Nazi’s, they were convinced that she was useful—and she knows it. Under that image of aloofness lies an apparently hard worker and a cagey, cunning little bitch.
History:
Stahl was born into a rather wealthy Jewish family, as the daughter of a renowned doctor, and the younger sister of three boys. Her childhood years were as normal as they can get: school, homework, family dinners, sibling rivalry, etc… She was protected by everyone, and from everything… that is, until the late twenties, when Hitler slowly began to claim power over Germany.
At eight years of age, a group of German Fascists burned her father’s practice. Not long after, her mother was fired for the safety of the company. Work was hard to come by. One of her brothers had been assaulted and killed in the streets. The other two, young and ambitious, set out on illicit work, selling illegal alcohol. The parents soon began to follow suit, now desperate to keep a roof over their heads. The mother turned to prostitution, the father helped his sons. Young Stahl turned to a life of crime, stealing, assaulting people on the streets… murdering rivalling gang members, and stealing their pillaging. Since she mostly attacked the slums, she got away with a good portion of her crimes.
For the next six years, she would continue along this path. Both of her parents died before the war; her mother from infection, and her father from trying to con an alcoholic. She was separated from her brothers, who had both been locked up, and when the war started, any hope of them seeing each other again was lost.
Like all the others, she had been thrown into a Ghetto, and crammed into a home with several other families. She normally kept to herself. Life in the Ghetto somewhat eased her criminal nature, as she no longer had to fight to have a roof over her head, and the food rations were more than what she was used to. One day, a father living under the same roof tried to rape her—and he ended up dead. She was imprisoned the day after.
Though she was but a rat in a cage, her apathetic demeanour and violent nature somewhat intrigued the Nazis. They needed someone like that in their government system—someone selfish enough not to ask questions.
She doesn’t really make up any decisions in the Jewish council. She is simply the hound dog, obeying orders. She does NOT conduct the massive killings, just like the executioner does not decide whether a person lives or dies. She simply carries them out.
