Work had just finished for the day and Naomi was making her way to the lines to get her ration of bread for the night before she heard her number called out by an officer. Her heart immediately began to speed up as she went over and was told to go to MP Astor's office. She barely breathed as she was led there. She didn't know what this could possibly be about..she'd always been left alone before and now here she was. She didn't want to have another conversation with Emrys Astor as she had had a few days before. She didn't like being picked out of the group..she had seen during her time here that it was never a good thing. A cold sweat was breaking out over her, causing her to tremble, her teeth chattering until she clenched her jaw.
She stared at the door to the office once they reached it and the man knocked before pushing open the door. He pushed her forward and she stumbled forward into the room. The officer left after a brief greeting to Astor, a brief, friendly exchange. Naomi stood very still, rather close to the door still, her mouth feeling much drier as she continued to clench her jaw, her body still shaking a little. She looked even more drawn than she had just days before when he'd spoken to her. She had dark circles under her eyes, her sleep lacking of late, her mind always busy..always racing. Her clothing seemed to hang from her thinning form even more.
She shifted a little, her eyes glancing around the room quickly before glancing at him briefly. They didn't linger long on him as they fixed elsewhere, waiting for what could be awaiting her...why she was even needed here.

"Shut the door please, Miss Chesed." Emrys said, hoping to put her more at ease by using her real name and not her number. He looked up at her and gave her a small smile, "I just want to ask you a few questions, you're not in trouble, I swear." In fact, Rys regretably found himself holding a certain fondness for the girl. She just made him so much of his daughter. It was almost as if Carina had gotten up out of the rubble and ran away to be a Jew. Of course, Carina really was dead, and she probably wouldn't have run off to be a Jew even if she wasn't. She had been her daddy's little angel and had separation anxiety when she slept in her own bedroom at night, he highly doubted that she could just run away from him.

She took a little step back, shutting the door slowly, "63289, you mean," she stated, her voice a little more empty. She stared at him a moment as he smiled at her, looking away again. "If I were in trouble, I suppose I'd already be dead.." she responded, frowning slightly. She didn't know why she was being so rude to the one person she'd encountered that actually treated her like a human being. She shifted, rubbing a hand over her stubbly head. "I....what are these questions?" she asked finally, her voice loosening, just showing how very tired she was. She looked toward a chair in front of him..the soft cushioning. She wondered if she'd be allowed to sit...but she didn't dare do so. She didn't want to be shouted at for a dirty Jew sitting in such a nice seat.

"No, I mean Naomi Chesed." he said, "And if you were in trouble, yes, you probably would be dead, but I don't think that you have to worry about any trouble from me." he said, choosing to speak her language just to make her more comfortable. "Please, sit." he said, gesturing at the chair. "Well, you see, I'm supposed to run inspections of the camps, but we both know that the military will either alter what I write or torture you until you say what they want you to, so what's the point, really?" he asked, "Let's just say I wanted to talk to you and give you a break from work, though I had to make it look like an inspection."

She frowned a little as he said her name, unable to look at him. She still didn't like him speaking her language..it bothered her more than anything. It didn't make her any more comfortable, though nothing probably would. She shifted as he told her to sit and she hesitated a moment longer before sitting down slowly. She swallowed, licking her lips. She snorted at his words, laughing a little before silent tears went down her cheeks. She pressed her hands against her face, keeping her head down. "Why are you people doing this? We haven't done anything...but you're breaking up families...My whole family is probably dead.." she started to sob then, hunching over, her whole body shaking.

Rys sighed, "Because one man took it into his head that he was God in a man's body and wanted to make us all in his image." he said, "And if he'd done his research, he'd have known that the Aryans were the people that gave India half of its religion and its caste system and he should not have used them for his overzealoting of the Christian ideals." he said. "Me? I just wanted to sit in my studio and never have to see the world again. The world, it seems, came to see me."
"Tell me the names of your family members, I will find them for you." he said, hardly able to believe he'd just said he'd do that.

Naomi shook her head, hunching over further, grasping onto her stomach tightly as she listened to him. She hated everything and everyone right then. She swallowed hard, staring at the ground, then up at him as he said he'd find her family. She shifted, "M-my mother..she went..the other way. She's dead..I know it..And my sister...she died just a few days ago..from disease," she drew a shaky breath, wiping at her face. "My dad..his name is Abdiel," she mumbled. "And my brother..Jonas.." She didn't know why she believed he'd actually find them for her...She hoped they'd be alive. So she would have some family left..to live for. "If-if they're not alive..I don't know what I'll do...I-I'll be ready to die then..I think...there'd be no point anymore.."
