Charles sat outside on a stone patio, at a small table his chair pulled in, he leaned over the papers he had left to sigh. Wearing blacks slacks bare foot and a white button up top the sleeves unhinged and rolled to his elbows. Running a hand through his dark brown hair he scratched the pen along the paper, his gray eyes never moving fro mthe lines he wrote. The cool wind from the counrtyside blew past him.
Charles looked up and sat back letting the pen fall from his fingers onto the table, he gave a long sigh and watched a few birds fly by. His eyes watched the grassy hils not relizing his surroundings.

Daniela walked up the hill and smiled. She set down two glasses of lemonade on the table, then she wrapped her legs around him, sitting in his lap on the chair. Lightly kissing his lips, she said, "Take a break. Your head is going to explode if you don't." she teased, laying a light kiss on his lips.

Charles felt Daniela straddle his lap, he tore his eyes from the hills and looked to her only for his lips to connect with hers. ""I know..." he said leaning more back into the chair, he sighed and kiss her forehead his hands went from the table to her hips. "I never thanked you enough love, for getting me out of the POW camp....I know it took alot to do that to Faxon" he said the last part with a sour taste in his mouth, he truly hated that nazi.

She gave him a weird smile. "Oh, I think you thanked me enough for a lifetime." she said. "I can't go back." she said, with a deep breath. "What I mean is I can't go back for a while." Her hands idly ran up his arms, "Not for ten months or so." she said the last part quickly and quietly.

"Excuse me?" he said in a whisper, then sat slightly upwards as he heard Daniela say the last part softly and quickly. "You can't possibly be serious about that" he asked his face turning from calm to a serious look. She was almost killed and in Charles's head he knew she would get killed fully if she went back.
Charles let Daniela's hands stay on his arms, but his eyes narrowed "are you?" he asked again, this time his voice sounded cold and confused.

She nodded. Cupping the side of his face in one hand, "And it is yours." she said. Taking one of his hands into both of hers, she placed it on her stomach. "Charlie... we're going to have a baby." she said, saying it outright for the first time.

Charles's gray eyes widened, a baby!. "What how...a child...I'm not ready for that I still have army duty and your well..." he cut himself off, he was going to say she can't pissbly go back to her old job with a child on the way!.
He sat stunned in the chair, a child, Charles couldn't even see himself as a father. His mind ran about with so many things.

She put a finger to his lips. "I know this changes things." she said. "And I know it will be hard. I also know, this is the happiest I've been since I met you." she smiled at him. "My job... I don't want to do it anymore. I've seen what the nazis do, I've experienced it firsthand. I don't want our child to grow up in their world. That's why I am going to continue to do my job, only now I'll do it for the Allies when they only think I'm doing it for them. It will be dangerous. That's why I can't go back until this baby is born. I can tell them I was undercover."

Charles stood causng Daniela to slip from his lap. he stood and paced then leaned on the table "no you can't...you have to stay here, at home I have people who will take care of you, I'll take care of you...I-" he bit his bottom lip and ran both his hands through his hair. Turning he walked towards the back door leading back into his large home.
He stopped at the door frame and turned "come inside, I want to talk this out with you inside" he said motioning with his hand. Entering the house he came into the family room lowing himself into a long red velvet sofa, he leaned forward and placed his face into his hands. Charles didn't have the slightest idea of what to do.

She sat down next to him, placing one hand on each of his shoulders, laying her head on the near shoulder. "I can help you win this war, Charlie." she whispered. "But first I am your wife and the mother of your child." she went on, in a quiet voice but not a whisper. "And I won't go if you don't want me to. It's at least ten months away, anyway."

Charles leaned back as he felt Daniela's hands upon his shoulders. "I don't want you to go...." he said looking up at the cieling. His hands rested on his knees, he turned his head to look at her. "Is it a boy or a girl?" he questioned his eyes locking with hers.

She laughed, "How should I know? It's only been there for a month or so." Her fingers twisted around one of her curly locks of hair. "But I'll stay here with you and the baby for as long as I'm wanted." she said.

Charles gave a slight laugh "well I would like a boy....but a girl would be nice...still a boy would be better" he said even though he would be happy with either or. Charles leaned back in the chair and gave a long frustrated sigh.

"We can make this work." she said, "I always thought you'd make an excellent father." She leaned back and laid her head upon his chest, one arm sliding across his stomach. "I just wish you could have been an excellent father after the war." she sighed, "But there's no point in wishing it now."

Charles smiled, he hoped to be an excellent father. He wrapped his arms around her shoulders and held her to his warm body, shutting his eyes and listening to the silence of his house. "What do you mean?" he asked opening them only to look down at her.
