He stood when she did, as he had been taught to stand when a lady did, or when she entered and left the room. He hesitated before accepting her hand, clasping it between his briefly, as he had also been taught not to shake a lady's hand. You either clasped it gently or kissed it, and he definitely did not feel comfortable enough to kiss her hand. "My pleasure, ma'am." he replied.
He walked over to her, bowing ever so slightly as he extended his hand to the door, offering to walk her out. It was only the polite thing to do, especially if she did not remember her way through the base. "May I escort you back to the lobby, ma'am?" he asked in his perfect form, his British accent made it sound that much more like he could have been a knight or a courtier from another age. He had decided that she wasn't so bad, but he still wasn't really sure about her.

Bev smiled and touched his arm, politely denying his offer. “You’ve been very kind but I think I’ve wasted enough of your time. Again, thank you,” she said, heading for the door herself after bowing her head a bit in a goodbye. She wasn’t quite sure what she’d do next but she had a feeling sight-seeing would be out of the question. There were still people out and about, of course, but you could see the warning in their faces and she would probably be forced to heed it as she was the only woman sent over by the Times at the moment and they tended to be ridiculously protective as if she couldn’t care for herself. Besides, she needed to get to starting an article and consider her approach with this Colonel, should he accept.
She didn’t know how much time she had in Britain but she would certainly get the best out of it. Eventually she’d go out to see everything… she’d just have to wait for a while. Beverly was never really the type to be scared out of doing something (not to say she didn’t get scared… she certainly did) nor was she the type to follow every order she was given. She just wasn’t openly rebellious…
